  • 'Retellings' or contemporizations must be acknowledged in the cover letter or on your submission document. 
  • Single author work only.
  • Submissions by agents welcome.

  • Winners may request a professional recommendation / endorsement of their work which they may submit to agents, publishers etc.

  • Entrants retain ownership of / copyright in their writing.
  • What to submit: We’re seeking excerpts of book-length new works including novels, novellas, short story collections, nonfiction, and poetry collections. All styles and varieties encouraged including 'genre', and 'literary'.
  • The entry must not have been traditionally published. We will accept books which are unpublished, self-published, and indie-published as long as the author retains all copyright, and the work is not bound in any way to another party or publisher. Entries may previously have appeared on your personal media (blog / social media etc). 
  • Collections: You may have had individual stories or poems traditionally published as long as the collection as a whole has not been published. 
  • Length: For fiction & nonfiction we are seeking the first 5000 words. For poetry please submit the first 15 pages. Please do not include the entire book. If selected as a Winner we may request to view the work in its entirety.
  • The Prize is open to anyone, from anywhere in the world.
